I'm becoming obsessed with home viewing of 3D movies on my Panasonic AE8000U projector.
I agree that some 3D conversions are junk, but: are we saying that all the "Fake" 3D movies are of lesser quality? Because to me, Jurassic Park 3D is hands down the best 3D viewing experience for home cinema I've witnessed. Literally every scene was amazing.
Great site- I wish there were more 3D options for home viewing.

Wow, best 3D home-viewing? That's amazing. What are some other 3D films you've tried at home? Have you tried any native 3D ones? I'd be curious as to how they compare.

Pretty sure I have nearly all wide scale Blu 3D releases over past couple years.
From a 3D perspective, Life of Pi was horrible while the IMAX discs are truly amazing. I also thought Final Destination 3D had some great 3D moments.
JP3D is my favorite release by far. Just picked up Superman 3D and it has hardly any pop out.
What are your favs?

I just watched it recently too and I have to say, nice depth for a conversion. Why the hell can't other conversions be like this?
The final destination movies did have some good 3D money shots, but still nothing too special about them.

I'll take a look at Jurassic Park later, it's still one of my all time favourite films, but I've yet to see it in 3D. If you haven't seen it, you really need to checkout Top Gun in 3D. It's absolutely astonishing.

Jurassic park was re-released in imax 3d. So the 3d is very good. There are a great many 3d titles out now on 3d blu ray. some great classic ones that I own and you can buy are 'infero 3d' , a Robert ryan film shot in 3d, the 3d blu ray is great. get the brown cover version because it's our region, 'creature from the black lagoon' , 'man in the dark 3d" from 1953, this looks great too, 'dragonfly squadron' from 1954, this has excellent native 3d, " the bubble 3d" this one has some of the best pop out effects ever. it's from 1966 and the blu ray is outstanding. 'house of wax" 1953 is out, 'dial m for murder' from the 1954, the mask from 1961 is coming out next year, so is 'kiss me kate' the great 3d musical. there are many newer movies on 3d blu ray too. tons of them. frozen is available on amazon.com in 3d.

I saw the 3D re-release in the theater, it was also the first time that I had seen Jurassic park all the way through, and I agree it is the best 3D conversion I have seen. I still compare modern converted movies like Avengers: Age of Ultron with it and I still think it is the best.
I remember seeing a feature on the conversion and the director talked about monitoring the process like, well, like an auteur working on one of his creations. So it makes sense that if thought and care are put into any piece of art it will turn out good, or as good as it can look.

Even when the 3D post-convertion of Jurassic Park is done very well, it will never be a Real 3D movie. Only a movie shot native in 3D with 2 camera's and/or 2 lenses will have the 2 images needed for 3D. Offcourse animated movies or movies with a lot of CGI footage or effects can be native 3D when they generated both images/feeds, and so it can be Real 3D. Even when a movie is shot in 2D with 3D in mind, it will always be a Fake 3D movie, because they have to create the second feed. Every post-converted movie is a Fake 3D movie (or they should go back to the CGI 3D source images they created in the computer to generate a new output with 2 image feeds).
But knowing this, a Real 3D movie can offcourse have a worse 3D experience than a Fake 3D movie, maybe just because of the pop-out effects. But this matter of experiencing a 3D movie will not change that it's a Real or a Fake 3D movie.

How did 'Avatar' ever get into the 'real 3D' column, when, at best, it was 35 percent quasi-dimensional, 65 percent 2 dimensional? Oh, that's right, it cost 400-500 million to make, and 185 million to advertize, so it MUST be REAL 3D!!

Oh, that's right, it cost 400-500 million to make, and 185 million to advertize, so it MUST be REAL 3D!! Because it was entirely shot with two cameras on a Cameron Pace Rig, and the first major cinema release to do so. From the first frame to the last frame, every image is native 3D, doesn't matter if it's real film footage or CGI, everything in there is native 3D. So either you have no idea what the difference between real and fake 3D is, or you are trolling.
