So I am very conflicted when it comes to Star Wars. It is well documented The Force Awakens was not filmed in 3D. However the highest quality screens seem to only be showing it in 3D. This article on the best theatres to watch it quotes J.J. Abrams himself stating that, although he doesn't generally like 3D, he admitted that seeing it in 3D gave him a new appreciation for it. He seems to indicate 3D IMAX Laser projection is his recommendation for seeing the movie. I am far too worried about being distracted by the 3D conversion to allow myself to see it in 3D, but that means I can't go to the best quality screens in my area (Southern Ontario, Canada). I am forced to watch it in the "cheaper" screens which are smaller and don't allow for reserved seating, etc. I'd love to see it in the native (for one scene at least) IMAX 70mm (2D) however I would need to get on a plane to find one of those theatres. Any other 3D advocates out there willing to put up with seeing it in converted 3D? If so, let me know how the experience is. Sean - lover of REAL 3D -
